Film Obsessive is proud to exclusively debut the trailer for Njedeh Anthony’s Yellow Broken Road, which will have its world premiere as part of the 2026 Dances With Films: Los Angeles programming. Anthony wrote, directed, and produced the film under the Gestalt Effect banner, a production company that is built on stories that will linger after the screen has gone dark.

Yellow Broken Road is a movie about a paradox and a woman’s choice. One night, out of the blue, Imani (Chelsea Rose Cook) meets Ike (Jean Charles), and it’s the sort of meeting that feels like a romantic comedy. Their connection is immediate, but something is nagging at the back of Imani’s mind. She is able to see how their love story ends, and it’s not the happily ever after one would want. Until the tragedy, though, their relationship is beautiful and fulfilling, but is this joy worth the pain she knows is waiting for her at the end of the line?

Anthony’s film is a rumination on the inevitabilities of life, love, and loss. Even in a best-case scenario, the reality is that we will lose the people we love. Unlike Imani, we might not know when pain is coming for us, but we know heartache will find us. Love and loss are intertwined by the mere reality of being alive, and Yellow Broken Road takes viewers down the path of emotional connection.

Dances With Films: LA will hold screenings and events at the TCL Chinese Theatre on 6925 Hollywood Blvd. in the Ovation Complex from June 18-28. For tickets and more information, be sure to check out the Dances With Film: LA Film Festival site.
