Film Obsessive is pleased to exclusively premiere the trailer for The Reverb, a murder mystery show “written by Gen Z for Gen Z.” The Gen Z writers in question are sisters Jordan and Janie Ruttert, first-time creators who co-founded Pink Collar Productions. The two sisters share a love for storytelling and that much is evident in the first look at their pilot for The Reverb.
Who doesn’t love when two people, who haven’t seen each other in years, find themselves in each other’s orbit again? Throw in a little murder and you’ve got the gist of The Reverb. Cassie (Mari Blake) is a college student who has had a turbulent friendship with Aaron (Matthew Assheton), the lead guitar player for a famous indie rock band. One night, out of the blue, Aaron shows up on Cassie’s doorstep again. He wants to see her, maybe make amends. Cassie, the empathetic person she is, lets him in while her roommates are torn on whether Cassie’s kindness is the right move. Their trepidation proves to be warranted when they learn that the leader singer of Aaron’s band has been found murdered. Certainly makes Aaron showing up a little more suspicious than it already was.
Now in its second year, the Dances With Pilots section of the festival showcases creatives who wish to tell stories in the television or web series format. The Reverb will showcase its pilot episode, with a runtime of 30 minutes and 50 seconds, on Saturday June 27 at 4PM. The episode will also feature an original song in the credits. While no further information about the song has been provided, it wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibility for that tune to be from Aaron’s band, Entourage.
Dances With Films: LA will hold screenings and events at the TCL Chinese Theatre on 6925 Hollywood Blvd. in the Ovation Complex from June 18-28. For tickets and more information, be sure to check out the Dances With Film: LA Film Festival site.
