Every June, film lovers descend upon New York City for the Tribeca Film Festival for eleven days of film, TV, panels, and more. The 2025 festival runs from June 4-15 and will be the place for world premieres like that of Miranda Kahn’s short film, Fame and Other Four-Letter Words. Film Obsessive is thrilled to offer readers with an exclusive look at actor Jemima Kirke in the short film.

Writer/director Kahn’s short, Fame and Other Four-Letter Words, centers on a self-obsessed influencer named Jackie. Like the stereotypical influencer we’re all too familiar with, Jackie is forever chasing money, fame, beauty, luxury, and relevance. Her younger sister Maxine is the opposite. She exists in the background and enjoys scientific pursuits, paling in comparison to Jackie’s glamorous world of social media clout. The entire world is flipped on its axis when Jackie is hit by a car. The impact launches her into another reality where fame means nothing and science rules all. Suddenly, Jackie and Maxine’s roles are reversed and Jackie must deal with her deepest fear: irrelevance.
Fame and Other Four-Letter Words‘s Kirke is most known for her role as Jessa Johansson in the Lena Dunham-created Girls. More recently, she was seen in the Sally Rooney adaptation, Conversations with Friends, and season 3 of Sex Education. Acting alongside Kirke are Chloe Cherry and Francesca Scorsese, the latter of which also shares a producing credit.

Fame And Other Four Letter Words is the brainchild of writer/director/producer Miranda Kahn. She began her career in the world of film and TV after graduating from college early and working on Girls and the Bradley Cooper-led Limitless. From there, she worked as an Assistant Director and a Unit Production Manager before launching her own female-led production company in 2019. One of the company’s shorts, Say Hi After You Die, won the 2024 U.S. Grand Jury Prize at Sundance. Fame And Other Four Letter Words marks Kahn’s directorial debut.
Fame And Other Four Letter Words will have its world premiere on Friday June 13 as part of the Pick N Mix short film program at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival. Tickets go on sale Tuesday April 29.
