The Hollywood Creative Alliance (HCA) announced the winners of the 9th Annual Astra Film Awards, presented on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Sofitel Beverly Hills Hotel. The ceremony was hosted by Omar Miller Benson and streamed live on KNEKT.tv and YouTube. Film Obsessive Editor in Chief Don Shanahan is a nominating committee member and voting member of the HCA.
Ryan Coogler’s Sinners emerged as the night’s top winner. The film also won Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for Michael B. However, Sinners was not the only Warner Bros. Pictures film that enjoyed a strong showing throughout the evening at the 9th annual Astra Film Awards. The studio scored a total of 11 wins across four different titles. Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another claimed Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical and Best Adapted Screenplay, while Zach Cregger’s Weapons received two awards, including Best Horror Feature and Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for Amy Madigan. James Gunn’s Superman took home Best Action or Science Fiction Feature.
Netflix followed closely with multiple wins, led by its global hit KPop Demon Hunters, which earned three Astra Awards: Best Animated Feature, Best Original Song for “Golden,” and Best Voice-Over Performance for Arden Cho for her role as Rumi. Netflix also secured Best Documentary for The Perfect Neighbor and Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical for Adam Sandler in Jay Kelly, Amanda Seyfried for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, and Ariana Grande for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical.
On the drama side of the 9th annual Astra Film Awards, Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet was recognized with two acting wins.
