Cinephile Hissy Fit Reacts to The New York Times Top 100 of the 21st Century

True to the title of the podcast, the hosts of the Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast, sponsored and supported by the Ruminations Radio Network, try their best to live up to the “cinephile” label. Recently, The New York Times invited a wide swath of citizens and readers to submit their Top 10 films of the 21st Century so far to build a master Top 100 list. The resulting selections were wide-ranging, intriguing, and very worth talking about for a podcast.

For their 203rd episode, two list-making film critics, two highly ranked dads, and two Top 100 teachers, Will Johnson and Don Shanahan, took this new episode as an editorial chance to talk about the hubbub created in the cinephile world recently by The New York Times. The public input blew up social media, never mind that there’s still six months of 2025 left, but I digress. The hosts highlight their official Top 10 submissions, comparing similarities and differences, and seeing which of their picks made the final list.
