The excitement of the 2025-2026 NFL season has not been lost on the hosts of the Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast. While Will Johnson’s beloved Tampa Bay Buccaneers imploded late in the year and missed the playoffs, Don Shanahan’s Chicago Bears enjoyed a miracle run into the playoffs marked by surprising resurgence and late game heroics. All of that entertainment on the field reminded our hosts that Hollywood used to make proper inspirational sports movies. One of the most perfect examples of that old formula was 2000’s Remember the Titans.

For their 225th episode, two strong side critics, two weak side dads, and two coaching teachers, Will Johnson and Don Shanahan, embraced the excitement of football season—culiminating with the landmark Super Bowl 60 today—for a classic entry of the proper sports film genre that studios have stopped making on the regular. Originating from the Disney’s production house and the power of Jerry Bruckheimer, Remember the Titans, stars Oscar winner Denzel Washington in a story pulled and sweetened from the history books. Our hosts sat down on their John Brown hindparts to tell you all about it and it’s high worth for athletes and viewers young and old. Come learn more and stay for the mutual love and respect that fun movies encapsulate. Enjoy our podcast!
