The summer of 2024 is in full swing and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has arrived at the May box office. It extends a very successful trilogy that rebooted a franchise with fresh prequels. Between the hosts of the Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast sponsored and supported by the Ruminations Radio Network, we have a fan of the old and one for the new. It was high time to talk that out in the orbit of the new movie.

For their 157th episode, two primate film critics, two hairy dads, and two ape-ish teachers, Will Johnson and Don Shanahan, collect their thoughts on the Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy covering 2014’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes, 2017’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and 2019’s War for the Planet of the Apes. Will has been a fan of the original series. Stepping into this century, he was a longtime listener/first-time caller for this trilogy while Don puts it in the pantheon of great movie trilogies. This was a solid homework assignment on the heels of this summer’s Kingdom for the Planet of the Apes. Hear them monkey around! Come learn more and stay for the mutual love and respect for the fun movies encapsulate. Enjoy our podcast!
