In getting to know each other through the years of making content and talking movies together, the hosts of the Cinephile Hissy Fit found a common link. As fate would have it, Will Johnson’s father went to the same undergraduate college as his co-host Don Shanahan. That place is Saint Joseph’s College located in Rensselaer, Indiana. The school’s biggest claim to fame was being the summer training camp home of the Chicago Bears for thirty years from 1944 to 1974. During that time, the events that became the basis (and future filming locations) of the influential TV movie Brian’s Song took place there. That kind of confluence deserved an episode.

For their 221st episode, two football fan critics, two sobbing dads, and two motivated teachers,
Will Johnson and
Don Shanahan, enjoy a little corner of football while the NFL season is chugging during the playoffs. The two venture into the realm of a classic TV movie with
Brian’s Song, starring James Caan and Billy Dee Williams. Both of our hosts talk about their personal connections to the college it was filmed at and the enormous positive qualities of the film. Come learn more and stay for the mutual love and respect that fun movies encapsulate. Enjoy our podcast!
