Last week, the hosts of the Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast sponsored and supported by the Ruminations Radio Network approached one of the greatest trilogies of cinema history with Peter Jackson’s towering adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. For many, even after the big fish of the Marvel Cinematic Universe came along, Jackson’s tripled achievement remains one of the last grand epics of Hollywood. The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers did their part to establish and extend the narrative. In many regards, a trilogy is only as good as its conclusion, which brings the podcast to The Return of the King.
