The War of the Rohirrim Was Waged on the Cinephile Hissy Fit

The hosts of the Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast, sponsored and supported by the Ruminations Radio Network, are not two men who bow to no one. If anything, they’ll gladly bow to good filmmakers who have proven their creative worth in treating beloved intellectual properties well. Peter Jackson is one of those worth their genuflection as the steward of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings series. Though part of that world has made its way to Amazon’s lavish new offshoot TV series, Jackson’s universe has its leadership fingerprints on this past December’s animated feature length film The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. The movie is all the better for that stewardship.

For their 184th episode, two horse-riding film critics, two horn-blowing dads, and two sieging teachers, Will Johnson and Don Shanahan, celebrated a new year with a conversation on the recent spin-off The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim. The anime-style film is a deep prequel to the War of the Ring from the Peter Jackson cradle. It impressed them and they are bummed it’s flopping at the box office. They talk about why. Come learn more and stay for the mutual love and respect that fun movies encapsulate. Enjoy our podcast!
