With the recent end of June, the 2021 calendar reached its halfway point. That always opens the chances for reflection of what has passed and reassessment for what is still to come. Such a moment was not lost on Will Johnson and Don Shanahan for a recent episode of the Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast.

For their lucky 13th episode, the gentlemen broke from the usual debate script and presented their picks for the best movies they have seen so far in 2021. As the loyal listeners of CHF know, Will and Don are two guys of very differing tastes, so the triggers for a little back-and-forth verbal tussling was still there. Not a single pick was matched by the dup, making for an eclectic and interesting exchange of favorites and praise. For many of Don’s picks, you’ll find full written reviews for them right here on 25YL.
