Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Trailer Brings the Action

It’s a great time to be an MCU fan. After a lost 2020 with no new content, we’ve gotten two awesome new shows on Disney+ as well as a seemingly firm release date for Black Widow, and now we finally have our first trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The movie is about a man named Shang-Chi, a kung fu master trained by his villainous father, the Mandarin, whose past has finally come back to haunt him. The trailer doesn’t tell us much beyond that, but that’s okay. This is just a teaser trailer, so we have plenty of time in the coming months to learn more about the film’s plot.

The important thing at this point is to get a good look at the action, and what amazing action it is. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings promises to be an old-school kung fu showdown, and it’s as mesmerizingly beautiful as you’d expect. From the scenes of a young Shang-Chi training under his father’s tutelage to his present-day fights with mysterious enemies, and even to the intriguing shots that harken back to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, every punch and every kick in this trailer are entirely on point. If you’re a fan of martial arts, this might end up being the must-see cinematic event of 2021.

What’s more, I’m particularly excited for this movie because there’s never been anything quite like it in the comic book genre. Sure, we’ve seen some cool fights with monsters, master assassins, and superpowered beings, but this is a whole different ball game. The closest we’ve gotten is the Netflix show Iron Fist, but that was a big disappointment. Even though I enjoyed it more than most people, I still acknowledge that it wasn’t nearly the martial arts epic it should’ve been.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings promises to atone for that misstep and finally give us the great kung fu superhero story we’ve been waiting for. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on September 3, so here’s hoping it can stick to its release date and we won’t have to wait a minute longer to finally see it.

So what do you think of the trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings? Do you agree with JP that it promises an epic kung fu showdown? Let us know in the comments! And if you’re looking for horror trailers we’ve got you covered!
