The Paper Tigers Trailer is a Great Mix of Action and Comedy

Have you ever watched a movie that felt like it could’ve been written about your own life? While I haven’t seen The Paper Tigers yet, the trailer already makes me feel that way. The film follows a trio of washed-up, middle-aged men who used to be great friends and great martial artists known as the Three Tigers. They left that part of their life behind many years ago, but when their old master is murdered, they reunite to take revenge on the man who killed him.

Like this trio, I also used to be a martial artist, so this trailer immediately grabbed my interest when I first saw it. I did Taekwondo for most of my childhood, and as an adult I did Brazilian jiu-jitsu for a few years. However, it’s been a long time since I’ve trained either one, so while I like to think that I still have some skills left, I’d probably end up looking a lot like these guys if I tried to rekindle my martial arts glory days. Sure, I’m not quite as old as they are, but I still see a lot of myself in them.

And even if you’re not a washed up martial artist like me, there’s still a lot to like in this trailer. For instance, the action looks on point. We only get a few glimpses into some of the film’s fight scenes, but they give the impression that when we see them in full, they’re going to be awesome.

On top of that, The Paper Tigers also looks like it’s going to do a great job of milking its premise for all the humor it’s worth. The disconnect between the main characters’ former lives and who they are now makes for some really funny moments, and if the movie can keep up the same level of hilarity throughout its entire runtime, it’s going to be a real knee-slapper.

That mix of action and comedy is like a cinematic “sweet and sour” flavor that hits all the right spots, so I’m really looking forward to this film. It’s currently scheduled to come out in theaters and VOD platforms on May 7, so thankfully we won’t have to wait too long to see if The Paper Tigers lives up to the promise of its trailer.

So what do you think of the trailer for The Paper Tigers? Do you agree with JP that it promises a great mix of action and comedy? Let us know in the comments! And if you’re looking for horror trailers we’ve got you covered!
