The Cinephile Hissy Fit Find Escapism in No Escape

For about a half-decade in the mid-to-late 1990s, director Martin Campbell asserted himself as one of the best up-and-coming action directors in the movie business. Goldeneye really kicked up some dust in 1995. Last week, the Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast, sponsored and supported by the Ruminations Radio Network, emptied their magazines talking about 1998’s The Mask of Zorro. There was one little movie before those two hits from Martin Campbell that finally landed in the podcast’s queue.

For their 110th episode, two maximum-security film critics, two warrior dads, and two penalized teachers, Will Johnson and Don Shanahan continue to highlight the works of director Martin Campbell. They go back a shade farther to 1994’s No Escape, a semi-sci-fi prison vehicle for Ray Liotta. Just like the podcast, it knows how to blow stuff up. Come for the shared challenge and tirade and stay for the mutual love and respect for the fun movies encapsulate. Enjoy our podcast!
