The 96th Oscars Race: A Look at 10 Shortlists

As 2023 begins to wind down, we are approaching Moira Rose’s favorite season: awards. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released the shortlists of ten categories: Documentary Feature Film, Documentary Short Film, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, Sound, and Visual Effects.

Voting for the 96th Academy Awards begins on January 11, 2024 and concludes five days later. Then, on January 23rd, the official nominations for all categories will be announced. Check out the shortlists below:

The 96th Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the Dolby® Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be televised live on ABC and in more than 200 territories worldwide.
