If their loyal listeners know anything, it’s that the hosts of the Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast, sponsored and supported by the Ruminations Radio Network, have their pulse on what’s popular. You’re not going to find two cooler and in-touch middle-aged men. Yes, we hear your laughs from here. We know there’s not chance of that out of Will and Don. In any case, there’s a cinematic bandwagon going around that needed two more passengers.
For their 121st episode, two tipsy film critics, two sloshed dads, and two inebriated teachers, Will Johnson and Don Shanahan offer the first of two collaboration episodes with Chicago film critic peers from Will’s recent visit. Enjoy host Mike Crowley of You’ll Probably Agree, Ian Simmons of Kicking the Seat, Cati Glidewell of The Blonde in Front, and Hayden Mears of IGN in a broad conversation on everyone’s past-and-present feelings about summer blockbusters. This was recorded at the Galway Bay tavern in Chicago, so enjoy the live show ambiance either on podcast or on video!
ABOUT OUR GUESTS
Mike Crowley is the site founder of You’ll Probably Agree. The idea of You’ll Probably Agree is to create a fun environment where people can hang out and talk about movies; what better place to resemble that than a bar where nobody’s opinion is above anyone else’s. Whether you’re sober or drunk, you never know which way a conversation will go in a pub.
Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies). The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar Noé, Rachel Brosnahan, Amy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss. Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.
Cati Glidewell is a Chicago based freelance film journalist, reviewer, trivia expert, and prize-winning Oscar enthusiast. She is a lifelong cinephile who is trying everything and telling you all about it. Find her work across YouTube and social media at The Blonde in Front.
Thank you so much for your captive audience and social media participation! Enjoy our new podcast episode!
