Podcasts coming together to connect streams and relationships across multiple states is a beautiful thing. The hosts of Cinephile Hissy Fit podcast, sponsored and supported by the Ruminations Radio Network, have been able to team up as guests or co-hosts on several podcasts. It’s always a treat to return the favor or, better yet, collaborate to make content together. The Cinephile Hissy Fit has one of those chances these next two weeks.
For their 115th episode, two computer-programming film critics, two absentee dads, and two evil self teachers, Will Johnson and Don Shanahan have set up a special collaboration for a pair of episodes. Will and Don recently appeared on Ian Simmons’ Kicking the Seat podcast and YouTube channel to discuss Superman: The Movie and Superman II. For the step down of Superman III, Ian and returning guest Mark Krawczyk of Special Mark Productions continue the series the talk to our digital airwaves. We scratch our heads together on everything from Richard Pryor, computer fears, and bad Kryptonite. ABOUT OUR GUESTS
IAN SIMMONS
Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).
The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar Noé, Rachel Brosnahan, Amy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.
Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.
